DERMAL FILLERS
Juvaderm/Restylane
Q-What are dermal fillers?
They are collagen simulated product that can be used to replace lost volume and restore youthful contours to the skin to smooth away mild - moderate facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds)
Q-How long do dermal filler last?
It depends on how fast or slow your body can breakdown the collagen. There are two dermal fillers that we highly recommend. Restylane and Juvederm. Restylane lasts approximate 6 months where as Juvederm lasts approx 9-12 months.
Q-Are dermal fillers FDA approved?
Both Restylane and Juvederm are FDA approved for the nasolabial folds.
Q-What should patient do prior to treatment?
Juvederm or Restylane require no pre-testing, but you should take few precautions before being treated. Avoid Aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications (Advil, Motrin, Ibuprofen etc..), St. John's wort, high dose of Vit. E, because they may increase bruising or bleeding at the injection site. If you have previously suffered from facial cold sores you may benefit from taking medication prior to procedure.
Q-Do the injections hurt?
Juvederm and Restylane are injected directly into the skin with an ultra fine needle. As with all injections, some patient may experience discomfort. With proper facial block the discomfort can be minimized.
Q-How much does treatment cost?
The prices can vary with the product and the amount. Restylane comes in 0.4ml and 0.8 ml syringe where Juvederm comes in only 0.8ml but come in two different thickness. The physician will help you decide which one is the best fit for you.
Q-How often should I schedule an appointment?
Follow up appointment is normally made between 4-6 months for Restylane and between 6-9 months for Juvederm.
